ufmc home         worship with us          go with us          contact us         check the calendar         view events         read pastor jim's msgs         You must worship Christ as Lord of your life.  And if someone asks about your Christian hope, always be ready to explain it.  But do this in a gentle and respectful way. --1 Peter 3:15-16         Read Pastor Jim's Messages for biblical guidance and inspiration.       October 2007 One More Soul Does the title of my column this month look familiar to you?  It should, it's exactly the same as last October!  One More Soul is a continuing initiative of the Free Methodist Church around the world to help us focus on following Jesus and helping others become His followers too.   “Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men."  -- Mark 1:17   I recently received a communication from the three newly elected bishops of the Free Methodist Church which says: This year's One More Soul theme is centered around Mark 1:17 when Jesus said, "Come, follow me... and I will make you fishers of men."  Our Free Methodist calling to spread scriptural holiness and to preach the good news especially to the poor is found in this year's themes:    • Follow Jesus (radically commit to following Him in holiness of life and heart)    • Find The Missing (especially among the poor and disenfranchised)    • Free The Captives (from the tyranny of sin to freedom in Christ) There you have a brief synopsis of our plans here for the month of October.  We will celebrate communion during both morning worship services on Sunday, October 7.  Then, during the subsequent three Sundays, we will follow the three themes listed above in italics.  The desire is to help each of us recommit ourselves to these biblical and foundational principles as we endeavor to reach others with the unchanging message of grace.  I challenge you to join with me as we seek new and fresh ways to communicate the timeless story of hope that can only be found in Jesus.  Together let us pray and labor to win One More Soul for Lord!
