...I am still not all I should be, but I am focusing
all my energies on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to
what lies ahead...

New Things
Does anything new ever really happen in life?
Most of life is lived in the routine and it seems extremely rare that anything genuinely
new actually takes place. It seems the older I get the more predictable life becomes.
But thankfully, there are some exceptions to that general rule!
As many of you are aware, I just returned from an 11-day mission
trip to Venezuela in South America. While there, several things took place that had
never happened before. For starters, we successfully pulled off a “live broadcast”
from Maturin, Venezuela to Uniontown, Pennsylvania on Sunday, February 11! How exciting
it was to be able to preach long-distance to the church back here and
communicate with each other using both sight and sound. New technology offers incredible
opportunities for spreading the gospel message as never before. Later that morning, I
preached the same message to our friends in Christ in Venezuela in Spanish, also a “first”.
"Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!"
-- II Corinthians 5:17
The classic verse above indicates to us that when we come to true
faith in Christ everything is new! But what do you think? Is it really possible
that our lives can be so dramatically changed that life will never be the same again?
Praise be to God the answer to that question is a resounding “yes”! In fact, there are
many distinct and significant areas in life that are altered permanently as we walk in tune
with God’s will for our lives.
During the month of March I will be bringing messages
that endeavor to explain some of the extraordinary “new things” that happen in our
lives when we come to Christ. I hope you will join me each Sunday this month as we
explore some of the exciting “new things” the Lord wants to do in our lives.
