The Very Merry Month of May
Isn't it great, the very, merry month of May is here! The sun is shining, the trees are sprouting their leaves, the birds are singing sweetly and the days are growing longer! Isn't life great?!... Yes, and you're wondering what planet I'm living on! What with all the problems we're facing: everything from skyrocketing gas prices and inflation, to the housing crisis, health care worries and a world food shortage. What is there to be merry about?
Admittedly there are many negatives that, if we focused on them, could pull us down. While practically every politician seems to offer simple, sure-fire fixes to everything that ails us, somehow we instinctively know there are no easy answers to life's great challenges.
"I have come that they may have life,
and have it to the full." --John 10:10b
Thankfully God has made a way for us to truly enjoy life, no matter what the circumstances. Genuine happiness is not dependent on the economy or tenuous promises of a politician. The good life is a close as your next breath. All you must do to experience abundant life is to surrender everything (past, present and future) to the giver of life!
Have you ever done that? Have you experienced the indescribable joy of letting go of all the baggage in your life and letting God have his way? It may sound too simplistic, but it's true. I challenge you right now to stop whatever you're doing and commit (or recommit) your life to Jesus! Let him come into your heart and give you a brand new life! Then you will be able to enjoy a very merry May, a wonderful life and an eternity that is out of this world! Give it a try!
