| UFMC conducts Live Webcast with Sonlight Missions Team in Venezuela!! |
|
On Sunday February 11, UFMC conducted a “first-of-its-kind” live webcast
via the internet with the Sonlight Missions Team currently working in Maturin, Venezuela.
Pastor Jim Jobes, along with four other members from the Uniontown Free Methodist Church,
are part of a seventeen-member team ministering to the people at “Iglesia Methodista Libre”
(Free Methodist Church) in Maturin from February 9 through 19. While they are there they will
be assisting the local church members to build a new orphanage. |
| |
| |
| |
| Video cameras were set up at both churches so the
congregations could see and interact with each other on projection screens during the
webcast. The congregation in Maturin watched and listened as the UFMC Praise Team
opened the service with the songs “Now Is the Time”, “The Cornerstone” and “Lord I Lift
Your Name on High”. |
| |
| |
 |
|
| Afterward, the UFMC congregation clapped and sang along in English
as the members of the Maturin church performed the Spanish version of “Trading My Sorrows”.
The Maturin Praise team is shown in the photo on the left.

| |
| Following the combined opening exercises, Pastor Jobes
read from Scripture, Romans 10:9-15 and delivered a short sermon entitled
“Entering Their World” to the congregations. |

|
| After his closing prayer, Pastor Jobes
invited the individual team members to step up to the podium and each of them spoke a
few words about their mission trip there. |
|
|
| |
| |
| |
| Immediately after the service, the cameras were
moved in close so the members of the Sonlight Missions Team could exchange
greetings and speak one-on-one with their family members here at home in Uniontown.
|
| |
| Equipment, software and technical services for the webcast
were provided in Uniontown by UFMC multimedia specialist Larry Harshman and by
Ken Gibson of Legacy Sound Contracting. Audio mixing was done by Marlin Cowsert and
camera operators were Kaitlyn Schaefer and Jerome Ferro. Video recording of the
webcast and photography were provided by Jennifer Ream and Cheryl Myers.
|
| |
| |
| |
 |
|
| In Maturin, technical services were provided by Heath and
Norman Berkshire of Sonlight Missions and by Percy Hornickle of the Maturin Church.
In the photo at left, Norman Berkshire watches in Maturin as his image is projected
live onto the UFMC big screen more than 2200 miles away! |
|
|
| |
| |
| |
| |
| Now that the technical issues for presenting this type
of event have been resolved, UFMC and the Sonlight Missions organization plan to
produce similar live webcasts on a regular basis during future Missions trips.
