Twenty Day Personal Revival Strategy

(After daily reading, turn to the Plan of Action on last page)

The following daily devotions and questions are offered to assist you in your spiritual journey towards personal revival. Pray for the Holy Spirit to guide you each day before you begin.  Carefully read the Scripture and respond honestly to each question.  As you faithfully open your life totally to the Lord, you will be blessed and empowered to serve as never before.  May God bless you on your journey!

Day 1

Matthew 6:12-15

12.    And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

13.    And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

14.    For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

15.    But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Questions:

·          Is there anyone I have not forgiven?

·          Anyone against whom I hold a grudge?

·          Anyone I hate?

·          Anyone I do not love?

·          Are there any misunderstandings that I am unwilling to forget?

·          Is there any person against whom I am harboring bitterness, resentment, or jealousy?

·          Is there anyone I dislike to hear praised or spoken well of?

·          Do I allow anything to justify my wrong attitude toward another?

Day 2

Matthew 6: 33

33.   But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Questions:

·          Is there anything in which I have failed to put God first?

·          Have my decisions been made after my own wisdom and desires rather than seeking and following God’s will?

·          Do any of the following in any way interfere with my surrender and service to God:  ambition, career, pleasures, family, friends, money, desire for recognition, my own plans, etc.?

Day 3

John 13:35

35.  By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.

Questions:

·          Have I deliberately offended someone?

·          Have I carelessly responded with anger instead of love?

·          Do I have a critical spirit?

·          Am I secretly annoyed over the accomplishments and advancements of another?

·          Have I failed in any way to show Christ-like love?

Day 4

Acts 20: 35

35.    I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’

Malachi 3:6-10

6.      For I am the LORD, I do not change; Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob.

7.      Yet from the days of your fathers You have gone away from My ordinances And have not kept them.  Return to Me, and I will return to you, says the LORD of hosts. “But you said, ‘In what way shall we return?’”

8.      “Will a man rob God?  Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, ‘In what way have we robbed You?’  In tithes and offerings.

9.      You are cursed with a curse, for you have robbed Me, even this whole nation.

10.  Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,”  says the LORD of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.”

Questions:

·          Have I robbed God by withholding my time, talents, possessions, or service?

Day 5

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

19.     Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?

20.     For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

32.    Give no offense, either to the Jews or to the Greeks or to the church of God,

33.    just as I also please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.

Questions:

·          Have I been careless about my example as a Christian?

·          Ami I proud or boastful?

·          Do I take the slightest credit for anything good about me rather than give the glory to God?

·          Am I focused on myself instead of Christ?

·          Are my feelings easily hurt?

Day 7

Ephesians 3:20-21

20.    Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,

Ephesians  5:15-16

15.  See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise,

16.  redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Questions:

·          Do I watch or listen to unedifying entertainment which compromises my values?

·          Do I read inappropriate materials and justify my behavior?

Day 11

Ephesians  5:19-20

21.    …according to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death.

22.    For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

Questions:

·          Am I taken up with the cares of this life?

·          Am I ashamed or embarrassed to admit to others that I am a Christian?

·          Do I think of my relationship with Jesus as a separate compartment of my life, the “religious hour of the week,” divorced from “real life?”

Day 13

Philipians 3:12-14

12.    Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.

13.    Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead,

14.    I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Questions:

·          Am I sometimes lazy in my Christian experience?

·          Do I refuse to serve in a position in the church because of a lack of commitment?

·          Am I holding on to past hurts rather than allowing God’s healing power to work in my life?

·          Am I truly “straining” ahead and “pressing on” toward God ordained goals?

Day 14

Philipians 4:4-7

4.        Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!

5.        Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand.

6.        Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;

7.        and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Day 15

Colossians 3:8-10

8.        But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth.

9.        Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds,

10.    and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him,…

Questions:

·          Do I engage in slanderous or unprofitable conversation?

·          Do I use inappropriate language?

·          Do I lie?

·          Do I resist the correction of the Holy Spirit?

Day 16

II Timothy 2:22-23

22.    Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

23.    But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife.

Questions:

·          Do I have impure personal habits?

·          Do I allow impure thoughts about other people or about sex to stay in my mind?

·          Do I read that which is impure or suggests unholy things?

·          Do I succumb to the seduction of argument?

Day 17

Hebrews 10:25

25.    not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

Questions:

·          Do I avoid church, Bible studies, and other activities with Christians?

·          Is assembling with other believers of lesser importance than other activities in my life?

Day 18

Hebrews 13:17

17.    Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.

Questions:

·          Do I have an unteachable spirit?

·          Am I rebellious, insisting my way is always better than that of others, especially those who God has placed in my life to lead the church and help me?

·          Do I consistently avoid opportunities to serve, insisting I do not have the time or the ability?

Day 19

James 4:11-12

11.    Do not speak evil of one another, brethren. He who speaks evil of a brother and judges his brother, speaks evil of the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge.

12.    There is one Lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. Who are you to judge another?

Questions:

·          Have I dishonored myself and God and hindered His work by being critical of His servants?

·          Do I resist correction and accountability?

·          Am I more concerned about what people think than what pleases God?

Day 20

I Peter 1:13-16

13.    Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

14.    as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance;

15.    but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct,

16.    because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”

Questions:

·          Am I holy?

·          Am I obedient to God in every area of my life?

·          Do I practice consistent Christian discipline?

·          Have I surrendered my all to Jesus?

Plan of Action for Each of the Twenty Days

You are now ready for a new outpouring of God’s cleansing if you have honestly and courageously faced all the issues presented in God’s Word and in the questions each day.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  -- 1 John 1:9

If the sin is agains God, confess it, receive His forgiveness and cleansiing.  If the sin is against a person, do everything in your power, through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, to make amends to that person.

Suggested prayer:

Heavenly Father, I have sinned by _______________________________________________.
I have offended you, despite your great love and sacrifice on the Cross.  I cannot be obedient by myself, but you can grant me the strength through the Holy Spirit.  I humbly cooperate with your grace to cleanse me and deliver me from my sin and selfishness.  Make me the person you want me to be.  In Jesus’ name, AMEN.

If there is a full confession, there will be a full cleansing, and revival will begin in you and in our church!  Much depends on your willingness to be humbly obedient to God’s will for your life.

Commitment:

For the next twenty days, I commit myself to follow this plan for personal revival.  I confess my urgent need to experience God’s complete cleansing and empowerment for service. I will set aside a minimum of ten minutes a day to pursue this path of personal growth and to see my church revived.
